MON Second Breakouts – Session #6: AN ASIAN FATHER’S GIFT: PERMISSION TO FAIL

Por:

Author ILYON WOO dazzled readers and critics with her Pulitzer Prize-winning book Master Slave Husband Wife: An Epic Journey from Slavery to Freedom. But it wasn’t a straight line to literary success. First there were academic struggles in high school, and later, when she turned in a partial manuscript for the book, she was told she had to start over from scratch. But as she wrote in a wonderful Wall Street Journal essay, her Korean-born father had given her an invaluable gift: the permission to fail. In conversation with her friend, entrepreneur and former concert cellist, JEN LEE KOSS, she will talk about the value of failure as a starting point and in picking up the pieces and also share her thoughts on the meaning of achievement.
