Sloane Crosley

SLOANE CROSLEY is the author of Grief Is for People, How Did You Get This Number, and I Was Told There’d Be Cake, a finalist for the Thurber Prize for American Humor. Her other works include Look Alive Out There, also a Thurber Prize finalist, as well as the novels Cult Classic and The Clasp, both of which she has adapted for film. Crosley’s writing has appeared in notable anthologies, including The Library of America’s 50 Funniest American Writers and The Best American Travel Writing. She was the inaugural columnist for The New York Times Op-Ed “Townies” and has contributed to publications including Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, The Guardian, and The New Yorker. Crosley has been an adjunct professor in Columbia University’s MFA program and has taught at Dartmouth College and The Yale Writers’ Workshop. In 2025 she was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in the Literary Arts.
