SONIA PURNELL is a prize-winning author, broadcaster, and journalist. Her first book, the unauthorized biography of Boris Johnson called Just Boris: A Tale of Blond Ambition, was longlisted for the Orwell Prize in 2011. Her second book, First Lady: The Life and Wars of Clementine Churchill, sheds light on the vital role played in Winston Churchill’s career, by his wife, Clementine. A Woman of No Importance, Purnell’s third work, is the inspirational true-life tale of a female spy in WWII, Virginia Hall, a young American socialite who helped fan the flames of the French Resistance. Her latest book, Kingmaker: Pamela Harriman’s Astonishing Life of Power, Seduction & Intrigue, is an electrifying reexamination of one of the 20th century’s greatest unsung power players. Harriman helped shape great world events during and after WWII. Purnell has been elected as a fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
