EVAN OSNOS is a staff writer at The New Yorker and a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. His new book, The Haves and Have-Yachts: Dispatches on the Ultrarich, was published in June 2025. Based in Washington, D.C., he writes about politics and foreign affairs. Prior to being at The New Yorker, he was the Beijing bureau chief of the Chicago Tribune, where he shared two Pulitzer Prizes. Osnos’s first book, Age of Ambition: Chasing Fortune, Truth, and Faith in the New China, won the 2014 National Book Award and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. In 2020, he published Joe Biden: The Life, the Run, and What Matters Now. The following year, he published Wildland: The Making of America’s Fury.
