Celebrating our 30th Anniversary
Thirty years ago, the founders of the Sun Valley Writers’ Conference sat around a kitchen table and dreamt up what would become today’s premier literary conference. Over the last three decades, more than 500 poets, playwrights, historians, novelists, journalists, musicians, and more have graced the stage at SVWC.

This year, we look forward to welcoming New Voices Fellows Vinson Cunningham and Kaveh Akbar to the 2024 Sun Valley Writers’ Conference! In a literary conference filled with recognizable and established authors, the New Voices Fellowship aims to showcase some of the country’s most exciting new talent—young, award-winning writers whose debut work is both original and daring. As presenters, Cunningham & Akbar will speak about their choice to become writers and read from their highly-acclaimed debut novels. The New Voices Fellowship program was inaugurated in 2022, thanks to the support of the Grossman Family Foundation (in honor of Peggy Grossman), bringing fresh voices and perspectives into the SVWC fold.

Two of our SVWC team members, Angela Jacobson and Carrie Lightner, enjoyed connecting with bestselling novelist @GabrielleZevin at The Cabin’s “Readings & Conversations” series in Boise! Zevin is the author of love story turned global phenomenon, "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.”
If you don’t know about @TheCabinIdaho… they are an "anchor of literary arts" in Idaho, devoted entirely to arts and educational activities that celebrate reading and writing. They put together workshops, lectures, readings, camps, publications, and many other programs and we love partnering with them whenever we can to promote the power of literature in Idaho.
