Gene Luen Yang

GENE LUEN YANG is a 2016 MacArthur Foundation Fellow and the fifth National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature. He began drawing comic books in the fifth grade and has since created a number of titles, including SECRET CODERS, THE SHADOW HERO, and LEVEL UP. Yang’s first graphic novel, AMERICAN BORN CHINESE, was a National Book Award finalist, as well as the winner of the Printz Award and an Eisner Award. His two-volume graphic novel, BOXERS & SAINTS, won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and was a National Book Award finalist. Yang currently writes a DC Comics series called NEW SUPER-MAN and also teaches creative writing.
