Mon 2nd Breakout #3: THE NOVELIST’S CRAFT
By: Carrie Lightner
LIZ MOORE, one of the most admired and successful authors of crime novels like The God of the Woods and Long Bright River, will tell us how she is able to combine gripping suspense with psychological insight and literary flair. She actually wrote the majority of what would be her debut novel when she was still enrolled in college. Moore, who also teaches creative writing at Temple University in Philadelphia, will converse with The New Yorker staff writer ALEXANDRA SCHWARTZ about where her ideas come from, how much research is involved, and what she tells her students about how to find their voice and hold on to it.
