MON Second Breakouts – Session #1: THE WORLD’S MAJESTIC RIVERS

By:

No two writers could be more passionate about protecting the world’s rivers than ROBERT MACFARLANE and AMY BOWERS CORDALIS. For his latest book, Is a River Alive?, Macfarlane traveled the globe to profile threatened rivers in Canada, Ecuador, and India. Cordalis did not need to look further than the mighty Klamath River that flows through her Northern California homeland. In her stirring new memoir, The Water Remembers: My Indigenous Family’s Fight to Save a River and a Way of Life, she tells the story of the struggle that resulted in the largest restoration and dam removal in history—and the return of the salmon. In conversation with DAVID GELLES, climate correspondent for The New York Times, the two authors will talk about their crusades and their causes for hope.
