We Remember . . .
Barry Lopez ~ Writer, Traveler, Historian

“Sometimes a person needs a story more than food to stay alive. That is why we put these stories in each other’s memories. This is how people care for themselves.”

Barry Lopez was with us in 2019 as a presenter and also spoke at The Community Library in Ketchum. He was awarded the inaugural SVWC Writer in the World Prize, announced just days before his death. Barry’s 2019 talk is featured on our audio page and you can learn more about his life and work in this December 26 piece in The Oregonian or The New York Times obituary.
