SVWC 2026 FREE Events & Community Programming

By:

Join us for a week of free literary arts July 18-20! We have more ways than ever to experience SVWC in 2026.

Over the past decade, expanding community access has become an increasingly important part of SVWC’s mission. Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Conference has steadily grown beyond a single weekend event, creating opportunities for local residents, students, educators, and visitors to engage with authors and ideas throughout the year.

Whether you’re attending a talk inside the Pavilion, gathering with fellow readers at The Argyros, spreading out a blanket on the Pavilion Lawn, or tuning in from home, there are countless ways to be part of the experience.

This year’s opportunities include:

Free Community Speaker Series events (REGISTRATION FULL) presented in partnership with The Community Library, featuring acclaimed authors Julian Brave NoiseCat and Virginia Evans. Registration for both of these events is full—stay tuned for free livestreaming information.

Free Lawn Talks on the Pavilion Lawn, where visitors can watch select presentations on the outdoor jumbotron, browse the Bookstore Tent, and attend author book signings.

Free Livestream, allowing audiences around the world to participate in select sessions from wherever they are.

The SVWC Digital Media Library, which offers hundreds of free videos, podcasts, interviews, and recordings from past Conferences, available year-round.

Pavilion Passes ($50-$100, SOLD OUT), which offer access to select Conference talks inside the Sun Valley Pavilion without requiring a Full Conference Pass.

The Live Watch Party at The Argyros ($25 per day, on sale now), where attendees can enjoy live broadcasts of Conference sessions in a comfortable theater setting complete with exceptional sound, refreshments, and a community atmosphere.

Beyond Conference week, SVWC continues to invest in the next generation of readers and writers through programs including the School Speaker Series, Next Chapter reading program, StoryCon, Narrative 4 workshops, the Student/Author Luncheon, the Writing Fellows Program, and complimentary access to Pavilion Talks for local students, teachers, and librarians.

Together, these initiatives reflect a simple belief: great ideas should be accessible to everyone.

“One of our strategic priorities is making sure there is a place for everyone at SVWC,” says Marketing & Communications Manager Kate Elgee Haase. “Whether you’re attending inside the Pavilion, watching from The Argyros, joining us on the lawn, visiting The Community Library, or tuning in from home, we want as many people as possible to experience the Writers’ Conference.”

As the 2026 Conference approaches, that commitment remains at the heart of the organization. While the authors and ideas may draw people to Sun Valley, it is the opportunity to share those experiences with the broader community that helps make SVWC so special.

The 2026 Sun Valley Writers’ Conference will take place July 18–20. To explore all available programs, events, and ways to participate, visit svwc.com/free.
