Ann B. Friedman

ANN B. FRIEDMAN is the founder and CEO of Planet Word, a new interactive museum of words and language to be located in Washington, D.C., opening in late 2019. A former elementary school teacher with the Montgomery County (Maryland) Public Schools, Friedman taught beginning reading and writing for nine years. From 2010-2016 she served as chair of the board of the SEED Foundation, the parent organization of the nation’s only inner-city, public, college-prep boarding schools. She is also a longtime director of Conservation International. Friedman serves on the boards of the Aspen Music Festival and School and the National Symphony Orchestra, where she heads the Audience Development Committee. She is a trustee of the Aspen Institute, where she was introduced to the important work of Ascend, the program to end family financial insecurity through a two-generation approach, and is a member of its advisory board.
