Sun 2nd Breakout #4: THE MAGIC AND THE MYSTERY OF THE SHORT STORY

By:

“Elegance is saying just enough.” Those are the words of the Irish writer CLAIRE KEEGAN, a master of the short story. Her debut collection, Antarctica, won the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature and introduced the world to her uncanny ability in every story to reveal the longings of the human heart. Her stories are translated into 35 languages and have won numerous awards, including the Edge Hill Prize, the William Trevor Prize, and are published in The New Yorker and Best American Stories. In conversation with JENNY EMERY DAVIDSON, Executive Director of The Community Library in Ketchum, Keegan will talk about short stories, hers and those of other writers she admires, and why she is drawn to the form and what makes the short story unique and magical.
