2022 Passholder Updates

By:

If you are a 2022 passholder, here are some important details for our upcoming Conference:

We can’t wait to welcome you to the 2022 Sun Valley Writers’ Conference in July. This summer’s Conference theme is “What Matters Most?” and in the global scheme of things – war, peace, pandemic, climate change, freedom – we all agreed that, even among those weighty issues, what matters most is that we will be able to gather together again as a community, as friends, and as readers and thinkers as our 2022 presenters guide us through subjects both timely and transformational, heavy and light. In the meantime, here are some details for our upcoming Conference:

REGISTRATION

Registration will open at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 16 in the large SVWC bookstore tent on the Pavilion lawn at the Sun Valley Resort, where you’ll provide proof of COVID vaccination (first round plus a booster) to pick up your credentials. Talks will begin early that afternoon.

PROGRAM & BREAKOUT SESSION SIGN-UPS

Very soon, we’ll be emailing you with more Conference details and highlights, including the full 2022 program and information about how to choose which of the smaller breakout sessions you’d like to attend from our rich array of selections. In the meantime, you can view the preliminary schedule on our website. And should your plans change and you won’t be able to attend, please let us know before May 15 in order for us to issue a refund for your pass purchase.

With breakout sign-ups scheduled to happen in just a few weeks, please let us know any guest names and emails as soon as possible so that they can receive the information for making selections.

COVID-19 POLICY

At registration, all attendees, presenters, staff, and volunteers will be required to submit documentation verifying that they have received a full COVID-19 vaccination (initial dose plus a booster for adults). Please bring your proof of vaccination. If you’d like to provide your proof of vaccination in advance to speed up registration or if someone else will be picking up your passes, you can email a copy of your vaccine card to us anytime at [email protected]. To read our full COVID-19 policy, visit here.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Below are a few speaker highlights to get you buzzing about the upcoming Conference—more coming soon! Please also check out our full list of 2022 writers & presenters as well as our suggested summer reading list and SVWC book reviews!

NPR’s “Fresh Air” Interview with Ocean Vuong

Listen to Ocean Vuong, author of The New York Times bestselling novel, On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, discuss his recently released poetry collection, Time Is a Mother, on NPR’s Fresh Air. During the interview, Vuong discusses how the collection is a search for life after the death of his mother, a Vietnamese immigrant who worked at a nail salon and never learned to read, yet influenced Vuong’s writing career in ways only an artist could.

A Virtual Event with Rebecca Donner

Rebecca Donner’s New York Times bestseller and winner of the 2022 National Book Critics Circle Award for biography, All the Frequent Troubles of Our Days, covers the true story of Mildred Harnack, the author’s great-great aunt, an American at the heart of the German resistance to Hitler.

Watch the opening of this virtual event hosted by the Museum of Jewish Heritage, in which Donner reads her book’s brief introduction. You will discover why All the Frequent Troubles of Our Days has been heralded as a “passionate page-turner” that reads “with the speed of a thriller and the depth of a novel.”

We’re so excited that you are part of our community and look forward to seeing you in July. Until then, stay tuned, stay well, and please, if you have any questions, reach out to us at [email protected] or call 208-726-5454.
